Some kids tried to copy his moves and even poke out their tongues — just like Mike. In a more profound way, God calls us to love Him and copy His ways. Of course, we can never be perfect as God is, but we can aspire to be more like Him. All through the Bible, God reveals His unchanging moral character. In Deuteronomy 10, Moses wrote, “O Israel, what does the LORD God require of you? He requires only that you fear the LORD your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. So you, too, must show love to foreigners … You must fear the LORD your God and worship him and cling to him.” They were to do all this in response to all God had done for them. God had delivered them from slavery and sustained them in the wilderness. He promised them a home and to be their God forever. Now, since God has provided us eternal salvation; sustains us daily, and has promised us a wonderful future, we should be forever grateful. We show our gratitude by loving and worshiping Him, by living morally, by sharing the Gospel, and by working for justice and integrity in our society.
