Postmodernists say nobody knows what is right or wrong; that people have to decide for themselves what is ethical; they are free to believe whatever they want and create their own code of conduct. To them, anyone who claims to have absolute truth is out of touch with reality. Yet long before postmodernism came, Jesus insisted that the Scriptures came from God and could not be broken. He said until heaven and earth disappeared, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.” He also insisted that we could not have a right relationship with God without Him. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” In John 6 He said, “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.” These are all absolute truths. Many who heard Jesus were offended by such narrow thinking. They walked away from Him. But Jesus did not compromise the truth. Instead, He turned to His 12 disciples and asked, “Are you also going to leave?” Peter spoke for the other disciples and for us when he said, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. We believe and we know you are the Holy One of God.”
