When World War II ended in 1945, people the world over celebrated. The United States with its Allies had defeated Adolph Hitler, ending a war that caused 55 million people to die. As welcome as that victory was, it pales when compared to a coming victory that the Apostle previews in the book of Revelation, Chapter 11. John records that when the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, loud voices said, “The world has now become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.” Noted biblical scholar F. F. Bruce says these words reveal to the world that though God’s sovereign authority has never ceased, at that time, it will be universally manifested and acknowledged. He says the time will have come for the full realization of the divine purpose: that in Jesus’ name every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” John goes on to record twenty-four elders saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God, Almighty, the one who is and who always was, for now you have assumed your great power and have begun to reign.” We do not know when all this will happen, but until it does, we share the Good News of God’s love and His offer to forgive all who come to Him. We invite everyone to accept Jesus Christ and join in His kingdom activities of worship and loving service to others.
