Even though in America it often carries messages of sex, violence, and harsh language, other cultures use rap to transmit different messages. Some believe rap music could deliver Christian messages to youth cultures both here and abroad. But to convey Christ-centered content, rappers must stick with the truth and values our Lord taught us to live by. Peter stressed this to Christians in his day. In 1 Peter Chapter 1, the apostle wrote, “[You] must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” God gave His Son to deliver us from the chains of sin and give us eternal life. We should show our gratitude by living to please him. We should practice the truths and values He taught, and told us to spread around the world.
