This illustrates a spiritual principle the Apostle Paul talks about in Philippians, Ch. 1. He speaks about his desire to live in a way that magnifies Christ. In so doing, others can more clearly see who Christ is and what He can do for them. Jesus Christ is the source of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, and self-control. So the more we reflect these traits in our life the more others will see what Christ is like and be drawn to follow Him. But why is Christ so worthy that we should copy His attributes? Paul would argue, Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He taught absolute truth in all He said. As God’s sacrificial Lamb, He paid the full penalty for all our sins. God has appointed Him the supreme Ruler over heaven and earth forever! Paul would say since Christ is all that, He is most worthy of our total commitment. The apostle says, “I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.” Recall Dr. King said “until a man has found a cause worth dying for, he is not fit to live.” Our challenge today is seldom facing physical death for Christ; rather, it is magnifying Him in the way we live.
