The TV series entitled “The Bible” pictured several unique items that had never been seen on TV. They included a 14th century Torah scroll, Roman nails used to fasten criminals to a cross, pictures of swords and knives that predate Jesus’ time, and a copy of the Bible printed back in 1611. While all of these items are unique, none compares to the unique nature of Jesus Christ–God’s appointed Savior for the world. The Apostle Peter made that point when he defended the message about Jesus’ resurrection. Acts 4 records it. The Jewish religious leaders were out to get rid of Christ’s followers. They thought they had done so when they engineered his crucifixion. But when He arose from the dead, his followers spread the message all over the city that He was alive, and people were flocking to accept Him. This enraged the leaders because they knew if people followed Christ, this would threaten their power and prestige. The apostles were called to defend their preaching, Peter stated, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” Christians today believe Jesus is alive from the dead, that God has declared Him to be the only Savior and the Ruler over all humanity.
