When a preacher describes God’s immense love, grace, and mercy, or when somebody relates an amazing answer to prayer, Sister Shirley frequently shouts out, “Look at God!” In her own unique way, she is saying what the Apostle Paul wrote. In Romans, Paul describes God’s amazing salvation plan. In chapter 11, he refers to God’s wisdom of including both Jews and Gentiles in his plan. In Romans 11:33, Paul bursts out in a doxology that has blessed the hearts of God’s people ever since. He wrote “Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.” Still today, as we experience God’s wisdom and love—His unmerited favor and mercy–, we join Paul and Sister Shirley to say with them, “Look at God!”
