Surely that is why God said, “You shall not commit adultery.” It is also why the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 that married couples should be faithful to each other. He said because so much sexual immorality exists, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. If that was sound advice in Paul’s day, it is far more needful today. To foster fidelity, he urged married couples to exercise equality in sexual relations. He said the husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. He said, “Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time.” Paul wrote as Christ’s apostle to the church 2,000 years ago, and it is still good advice. Faithfulness in marriage is the best antidote for many of the social ills in our world today. It is clear that even though our society often ignores the sanctity of marriage, God has not changed His mind about it.
