On the way he runs into many pitfalls, temptations, distractions, and impediments. His experience reminds us of ancient Israel as they were making their way from Egypt to the Promised Land. Like Christian, they faced many challenges. Yet despite their stubbornness, God still led and cared for them, and eventually brought them to the Promised Land. Today, life for followers of Christ involves many challenges. Yet our God is faithful. He arranges our circumstances, consoles our hurts, and gives us victories when all seems lost. God’s words to them long ago, found in Deuteronomy chapter one, can assure us today “The LORD your God is going ahead of you… And you saw how the LORD your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child.” Still today, God cares deeply for His children, even though when we fail to live as He desires, He is disappointed. Moses said of them, “Even after all he did, you refused to trust the Lord your God.” May we not disappoint our Lord after all He has done for us.
