A Bible teacher was describing the events surrounding the return of Christ. He remarked that Christ will come with a commanding shout. One curious student asked, “And what will Jesus shout?” The teacher replied, “I am not sure, but perhaps He will say, ‘Enough! Enough wickedness! Enough persecution! Enough suffering!’” If the teacher is right, it fits what John wrote in Revelation chapter 14: “God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently, obeying his commands and maintaining their faith in Jesus.” John then heard a voice from heaven that said, “Write this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, for they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!” In chapter 21, John wrote, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared.” A shout from the throne said, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” That is the unfailing hope for all who place their faith in Jesus Christ, God’s Son.
