This is in stark contrast to some big donors who pledged to give most of their money to charity. One study says in coming decades, $59 trillion will pass to the next generation. As striking as these huge inheritances are, they pale in comparison to what followers of Christ will inherit by claiming Him as their Savior and Lord. The Bible teaches that genuine children of God are heirs to the glorious resources of our Heavenly Father. We tend to shrug this off because our minds are too small to take it in. Yet the truth is, this humongous universe with trillions of stars is just a glimpse of God’s ability to create and bestow value upon His children. And our inheritance will last forever as we enjoy God’s ever-expanding creativity. Paul wrote in Romans 8: “You received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, ‘Abba, Father.’ For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.” So all God is and has become ours. Absolutely nothing on earth compares to what God’s children are destined to inherit.
