He chose to remove “n-a” from Winona, then it read “Wino forever.” But regret over a tattoo will never compare to another kind of regret—regret some people will have if they die without preparing for their afterlife. They will look back and recall the many times they ignored the invitation Jesus extended while He was here on earth. In Matthew 11, Jesus praised those humble enough to accept Him as God’s Son—the One who came to offer salvation to the world. He said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Many people today are so distracted by life’s cares that they ignore Jesus’ invitation. But if they ignore him, one day they will look back and be filled with great remorse. Only Jesus Christ can satisfy our longing for a productive life here, and joy when this life is over.
