Even though life expectancy has increased over the years, one sad reality is still true: Sooner or later, life as we know it here will come to an end, despite the deep longing in our hearts to live. The truth is that God created us to live, and according to the Bible, when this life is over, we will continue to exist. In 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul tells what will happen to followers of Jesus Christ when He returns to earth. Paul writes “Let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.” So here is the good news: a glorious future is ahead for those who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. At His return, He will bring to life all dead believers and transform living believers. All believers in Christ will receive new bodies that cannot die. We will live forever because Jesus paid our sin debt when He died on the cross.
