God has given us brains to facilitate decision-making, but because we have inherited a sin nature from our ancestor, Adam, we often make mistakes in making-decision. Fortunately, God offers to help those who are in relation with Him through His Son Jesus. In fact, God’s guidance in decision-making is just one of three benefits the writer notes in Psalm 25. “The LORD is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing what is right, teaching them his way. The LORD leads in unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his commands.” A second benefit is that God promises to sustain those who follow the Lord and obey His will. He keeps them through good times and bad. A third benefit is that those who trust and obey the Lord will have the Lord as their Friend. He writes, “The LORD is a friend to those who fear him.” They enjoy intimacy with God that those who ignore God never experience. So when we submit our mind to God, He transforms it and enables us to make sound decisions—ones that please God and benefit us.
