Healthcare workers wear protective gloves, wash their hands frequently, and get vaccinations. They do this to protect themselves from germs as they help sick and diseased people. Such protective steps illustrate a principle the Bible urges God’s people to follow. Jesus says we serve as salt and light in the world. We represent Him by the way we live and speak. Yet the Apostle Paul urges to stay away from evil in the world. He did this by posing these questions in 2 Corinthians Chapter 6: “How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?” He then quotes God saying, “Come out from among unbelievers, and I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” God calls us to serve Him by the life we live, by the witness we give, and by the deeds we perform. The Apostle Paul does not tell us to isolate ourselves from people in need, but to avoid that which contaminates our relationship with God.
