Dr. Terry Mason is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Cook County Health and Hospitals System. Before that he served as the Chicago Public Health Commissioner. He is one of the leading urologists in the city of Chicago. Dr. Mason combines his medical knowledge with his faith in Christ. He urges people to stay healthy to fulfill our God-given purpose in life. Jesus often restored physical health when He was here on earth. Of course, we know He did far more, but we read this in Matthew chapter 4, “Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed – he healed them all.” History shows that God’s people, inspired by the example and teaching of our Lord, have been at the forefront of helping those who hurt. Christians helping the suffering and dying during an outbreak of a plague encouraged Emperor Constantine to end persecution of Christians. Today, God’s people who choose careers to help heal the physically and mentally challenged are carrying on what Jesus did long ago.
