He knew Christ expected His people to share the Good News of salvation through faith in Christ. But he was concerned that many believers failed to represent Christ in areas of social justice. Dr. Henry is now gone and today more Christians are obeying Christ by working for justice and equality in our world. Matthew quoted the prophet Isaiah to show that Christ’s Kingdom agenda includes establishing justice and righteousness. We read this in Matthew 12 “Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope of all the world.” Christ came to redeem humanity. When we accept Him and His offices as God’s Prophet, Priest, and King, we begin to model His Kingdom values. One of these values is love. We show love by fostering justice and fairness in our society. Of course, He will complete His Kingdom agenda when He returns.
