Years ago, Job asked the same question. The most reliable source of information we have about life after death is the Bible. The Bible’s answer to that question is an emphatic, “Yes, people do live again after they die, but not in the way we function today. Everyone rises. Believers in Jesus Christ rise to receive new bodies and to live eternally with God. But people, who, in this life, ignore God rise to face Him as their Judge. According to Revelation Chapter 20, on that day, everyone whose name is not in God’s book of life will go away into everlasting death. In that state, they continue to live but are separated from God’s presence, influence, and blessings—the result of their decision while they lived on earth. That is what the Bible teaches. Many who believe what the Bible teaches accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Sadly, many others persist in their own way. They ignore that Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He also said, “I have come that people may have life and have it to the full.” Jesus Christ offers abundant life—both here and hereafter.
