When a person is accused of committing a crime, both the prosecution and the defense tries to find eyewitnesses. The prosecution wants witnesses to testify that the accused did it. The Defense wants witnesses to testify that the accused could not have done it because the person was somewhere else. Both count on eyewitnesses. That’s because reliable eyewitnesses are compelling. Perhaps that’s one reason God gave redeemed people the task of sharing the Good News of the Gospel with others–instead of assigning it to angels. Those who have experienced God’s grace can tell what God did for them. That is compelling. In 2 Corinthians 5, the Apostle Paul wrote this: “God has given us this task of reconciling people to him… He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation… We are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” for God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” So since God has given us the privilege of serving as Christ’s ambassadors, the question we must ask is this: “Are we fulfilling this task God wants us to do?”
