The crowd screamed and called for help. One gorilla picked up the boy, and gently laid him at the door of the gorilla pit. He waited with the boy until zookeepers came and took him away. An even greater event occurred years ago with King Jehoshaphat. A vast enemy army stood on Judah’s border to invade and conquer them. We read in 2 Chronicles that the king stood before the people and prayed, “O LORD God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you! We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.” As they stood before the LORD, the Spirit of the LORD came upon one of the men standing there. “Listen all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says! Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” After praying, they did not go home and wait for God to fight for them. They met the enemy by praising God, and God gave them the victory. Doing God’s will in God’s way, depending on God as we do it is the secret of success.
