Love can express itself in many ways

To show how genuine repentance and love can manifest itself Jesus used an incident recorded in Luke chapter 7. A woman of ill repute came into a house as he reclined at dinner. She anointed his feet with perfume and wiped them with her hair as she wept over her sins. The host Simon chided Jesus in his heart for letting this immoral woman do this. But Jesus said to him, “’Simon, a man loaned money to two people – 500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?’ Simon said, ‘I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.’ ‘That’s right,’ Jesus said.” Then after reminding Simon of all he failed to do as a host, Jesus said to him, “I tell you, [this woman’s] sins – and they are many–have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven… Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” It’s still true–people who feel indebted to Jesus for all He has done for them find ways to show it—by their life, their lips, their hands, or their feet; with their time, their abilities, and their money.
