Recently they said the universe may be 250 times bigger than they once thought. In other words nobody knows how our huge the universe is. But what we do know is that whatever its size, it originated from the mind and Word of the God we know and love, and it is being sustained today by His Word. God’s wisdom, creativity, and power are so enormous that we bow in reverence before Him. We worship, adore, and obey Him. We join the author of Psalm 8 to say, “O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. … When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?” The psalmist ends by saying again, “O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!” It is the height of arrogance to think that this vast universe could exist independent of God. It is also arrogant to ignore God, to live as we please, and think we will never give account to Him.
