A 90-year-old man gave this wise advice to a young man: Don’t buy stuff you don’t need. You don’t have to win every argument. Life is not tied with a bow, but it is still a gift. It’s OK to let your children see you cry. Don’t compare your life to others—you have no idea what their journey is all about. If a social relationship has to be secret, you ought not to be in it. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up. Envy is a waste of time. Interesting advice—Now, here is some godly advice from King David, found in Psalm 37. He also speaks as a wise man who has learned some life lessons and wants to share them with a new generation: He says, “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm… Turn from evil and do good… For the LORD loves justice and he will never abandon the godly.” That is wise advice from a godly man who had seen both good and bad experiences.
