STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. But connecting the dots is also something we must do in our walk with God. After Jesus fed 5,000 people with two fish and five loaves of bread—an astounding miracle, He sent His disciples across the lake. He went to a mountain to pray. From the mountain, He saw them struggling against the wind and waves. To rescue them, He walked on the water. When they saw Him walking on water, they cried out in fear thinking He was a ghost. Even though Jesus had just shown them his power by feeding 5,000 people, they did not connect His power to do this with this new situation they now faced out on the lake. As Jesus drew near them He said, “Do not be afraid… I am here.” So often, like the disciples, after God has solved one problem for us, our faith fails us when we face the next one. We do not connect the dots of God’s power to help us. We cry out in desperation, “Lord, where are you now?” And once again, God has to say to us as Jesus said to His disciples, “Here I am. You have so little faith. Why do you still doubt me?” God wants to grow our faith. He wants us to connect the dots between one solved challenge and the next one.
