Evangelicalism’s crazy old uncle? Intoxicated by the power of his own TV cameras? Just speaking a word? No matter how you spin this one, there’s no getting around the fact that Robertson’s comments were inappropriate and lacked Christian compassion.
There may be a time and place to wax prophetic, but it certainly isn’t the day after an unspeakable tragedy affecting millions of impoverished people, on a Christian television broadcast seen all over the world. A Christian leader of Robertson’s influence should be rallying believers together to pray for Haiti, not cast judgment.
