The Chaos Theory says that very small and seeming insignificant events can cause huge outcomes. For example, some believe that a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can cause a chain of events to produce a tornado in Texas. According some researchers, this chaos theory has proved accurate in a variety of situations, including the stock market, mathematics, biology, politics, and finances. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this theory; but I know that God often uses insignificant objects and lowly people to accomplish His purposes. God once used a little girl’s testimony to save a Syrian general from leprosy, a slingshot and a stone to bring down a giant, and five loaves and two fish to feed a multitude. God also assured the little nation of ancient Israel, that though they were very small in number, discouraged and powerless, God would enable them to accomplish His purpose. He told them through Isaiah the prophet, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Jesus made that same promise. He told His followers that those who love and obey Him could count on God’s presence to empower them. God would help these lowly people fulfill His holy purpose. God still uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things for Him.
