A few days after the angel Gabriel told Mary that God had chosen her to give birth to the Messiah, according to Luke Ch. 1; she hurried to Judea, to the town where her relatives Zachariah and Elizabeth lived. Even though this couple was very old, the wife was six months pregnant. As Mary greeted Elizabeth, her voice caused Elizabeth’s child to leap within her. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth gave a glad cry and said to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. Why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy.” Elizabeth then spoke the truth that has brought blessing to many people through the ages–“Mary, you are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said!” How can we as God’s children experience His blessing? (1) We must believe that God exists. (2) We must believe that God is powerful, loving, and wise. (3) We must believe that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. (4) We must seek to know the purpose and will of God as revealed in the Bible. (5) As much as possible, we must align our requests with the purpose and will of God. And (6), We must expect God to answer according to His will–His wisdom, love, and power.
